I am a historian of the United States with a particular interest in the relationship between cinema and society and the political economy of the motion picture industry. Courses I teach two second year courses: Documentary Practice (accessed only via Moodle)and Dream Factory which explores the relationship between Hollywood and American society; a third year course, Working for Hollywood examines the experience of those who work in motion pictures. Research My research interests are varied but include labour in the motion picture industry, the relationship between cinema and society, and oral history and memory. I supervise post graduate research students. Potential PhD and MPhil students should contact me via email. Teaching As a University Teaching Fellow, I am keen to enhance my own teaching and support colleagues in their reflective practice.
